School Readiness

Starting school asks children to draw on much more than letters, numbers and the ability to write their name.
At Bloom, School Readiness supports the broader skills children use to participate in the school day. Our small-group sessions are playful and purposeful, using stories, movement, games and hands-on experiences to build these skills in ways that respond to each child.
We also recognise that children do not develop every area at the same pace. A child may be highly capable with numbers while still developing fine motor skills, or have strong language skills but need more support joining a group. We build from each child’s strengths while supporting the areas that are still emerging.
Because our educators understand both child development and the everyday demands of the primary classroom, we can help children build the foundations they will draw on when they begin Kindergarten, while respecting the learner they are right now.
Our aim is for children to begin school knowing more about how they learn, how to communicate what they need and how to participate with growing confidence and independence.
